The Milk of Human Kindness

Daily Bread #2

The Milk of Human Kindness

It’s a wonderful day to be in the Lord because “The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness” (Lam 3:22-23 ESV).
When your eyes were opened this morning, you felt yourself breathing, your minds began running in all directions, and because you know God has blessed you to see another morning, please capture this thought from Lamentation. God greets us the moment we rise from our slumber with three unspeakable blessings.

  1. His steadfast love
  2. His sweet mercies
  3. His constant faithfulness

Family, I can’t think of a better way to start a day. As we face the rest of the day,

may we return this favor to each person we meet today and especially those in the family of God.

  1. Demonstrate some of this love with which our heavenly Father greeted us with this morning.
  2. Be ready to show mercies (because of its unlimited abundance) to those whom we meet and especially to one another in the faith.
  3. Determine to be faithful to others with these blessings as long as God remains faithful to us with such riches.

And if for any reason we might have wounded any soul at the end of the day, may we adopt an attitude that will cause us to say, “If I have wounded any soul today, If I have caused one to go astray, dear Lord, please forgive.”
